Epoxy Grout and Heavy Machinery Foundation Services for German Industry

Identifying and correcting foundation problems before they stop production.

Most recurring vibration and misalignment problems in German industrial facilities are foundation problems. Not mechanical ones.

FOUNDATION CONDITION SURVEY

Systematic inspection of machinery foundations to identify void formation, grout deterioration, and baseplate movement before they cause unplanned downtime. Provides German maintenance managers with documented findings and a prioritised remediation plan, ready to schedule within existing maintenance windows.

FOUNDATION REHABILITATION

Removal of failed cementitious grout, surface preparation, and re-grouting with proprietary epoxy grout that will not shrink, crack, or lose baseplate contact under dynamic loading. The correct fix for facilities where recurring misalignment or rising vibration has identified a foundation as the root cause.

NEW EQUIPMENT GROUTING

Correct foundation grouting from initial installation using non-shrink proprietary epoxy grout, eliminating the void formation and grout deterioration that leads to foundation problems in the first place. Pre-installation consultation, on-site supervision, and post-installation testing included as standard.

PRECISION
ALIGNMENT

Laser-guided precision alignment,  carried out after foundation rehabilitation or new grouting to verify that correct geometry has been achieved and documented. Alignment without foundation correction is a temporary measure. The two must be done together.

Common Questions from German Engineers

WHY DO MACHINERY FOUNDATIONS FAIL IN GERMAN HEAVY MANUFACTURING?

Foundation failure in German heavy manufacturing follows a consistent pattern: cementitious grout shrinks during curing, creating voids beneath the baseplate. Under sustained dynamic loading from presses, crushers, or reciprocating machinery, those voids grow. Vibration increases, alignment cannot be maintained, and bearing wear accelerates. Proprietary epoxy grout eliminates shrinkage at source, maintaining full baseplate contact from day one and under continuous load.

WHAT CAUSES RECURRING MISALIGNMENT ON PRESS LINES AND MACHINERY?

If a machine requires repeated re-alignment, the foundation beneath it is almost certainly moving. Re-aligning without addressing the foundation provides only temporary correction. The correct fix is foundation rehabilitation using non-shrink epoxy grout, followed by precision re-alignment. This breaks the cycle of recurring misalignment — and the production losses that come with it.

WHEN SHOULD A PLANT ENGINEER CONSIDER REHABILITATION RATHER THAN RE-ALIGNMENT?

Consider foundation rehabilitation rather than re-alignment when: alignment corrections are needed at increasingly frequent intervals; vibration levels continue rising despite correct alignment; grout cracking or deterioration is visible beneath the baseplate; or the machine is over 15 years old and was originally installed with cementitious grout. Re-alignment corrects the symptom. Foundation rehabilitation corrects the cause.

HOW DOES RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR FOUNDATION DETERIORATION DEVELOP?

Reciprocating compressors generate dynamic loads far exceeding those of centrifugal machines. Over time, these loads cause cementitious grout to crack and develop voids beneath the baseplate. As void area increases, vibration rises, frame fatigue accelerates, and alignment fails. This deterioration pathway is frequently misdiagnosed as a mechanical rather than a foundation problem,  leading to repeated bearing changes without addressing the underlying cause.

For heavy press lines and large machine tool foundations, a high-strength non-shrink proprietary epoxy grout is the correct specification.

Standard cementitious grout cannot withstand the sustained dynamic loading generated by presses, forging equipment, and large CNC machinery without cracking and void formation.

Proprietary epoxy grout maintains full structural integrity under continuous dynamic load , preserving the precise foundation geometry that large machine tools require for dimensional accuracy and production quality.
