About ALPHATEC® 171

High strength chock grout

ALPHATEC® 171 is a three-part epoxy chocking solution developed for heavy-duty installations in marine and industrial environments.

Engineered to support machinery and metal frames, it maintains high compressive strength, minimal shrinkage, and excellent flow properties for reliable performance—even under demanding conditions.

Features

High load-bearing capacity for large-scale engine bases
Simple three-component mix for consistent, void-free placement
Negligible shrinkage to ensure precise alignment
Approved for use in marine propulsion systems under international standards

ALPHATEC® 171 delivers robust, precise chocking performance for critical equipment alignment.

Some Technical Highlights

Typical compressive strength is around 91.6 MPa, with a modulus of approximately 3 GPa.

The material exhibits no shrinkage upon curing, making it an ideal choice for critical machinery alignment, particularly in harsh marine and industrial applications.

Packaging and Mixing

Standard sets come in two-liter containers of resin, hardener, and aggregate filler. For larger projects—such as main propulsion chocks requiring 300–400 litres—pre-measured kits scale accordingly.

Mixing begins by combining the hardener with the filler, then introducing the resin until the colour transitions from yellow to green, signifying a uniform blend.

Low-speed, non-aerating mixers help avoid air entrapment, while operators must wear proper PPE and follow recommended safety measures.
