About ALPHATEC® 240

Epoxy Sealing Putty

ALPHATEC® 240 is a solvent-free, two-component epoxy putty that cures even under immersion, providing robust corrosion resistance for industrial and marine applications. Its ideal for sealing cracks in steel or concrete, protecting heavy machinery areas, and ensuring long-term durability in harsh environments.

ALPHATEC® 240 is green with semi gloss finish after mixing. It displays excellent resistance to corrosion in

  • Marine environments
  • Fresh water
  • Water pipes
  • Tanks

It can be used as electrical insulation, is self-priming and applied by hand under water. After curing, the coating is very hard and resistant to mechanical and abrasive damage.

Features

Accelerated underwater curing
Excellent corrosion resistance
One-coat application (up to 5 mm)
Strong bond to steel and concrete

ALPHATEC® 240 bonds firmly to wet or submerged surfaces, delivering lasting corrosion protection in extreme settings.

Surface Preparation, Mixing and Application

Ensure surfaces are free from oils and other contaminants, then prepare steel through abrasive blasting or concrete via roughening.

ALPHATEC® 240 mixes at a 1:1 ratio until it forms a uniform green color, with no thinning needed. Applied manually under calm conditions, a single layer typically reaches 3–5 mm thickness (extendable up to 15 mm).

At 24°C, it dries to the touch in about 4 hours and fully cures in around 5 days; underwater at 13°C, it’s touch-dry in 10 hours and requires up to 10 days for complete curing.

The product’s shelf life is 24 months, and its pot life is roughly 60 minutes at 25°C. Cleanup involves using Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), following relevant safety regulations.
