What is epoxy grout used for?
Epoxy grout is used to support and align heavy machinery on concrete foundations. It provides a rigid, high-strength interface that resists vibration, chemical attack, and mechanical stress essential for compressors, pumps, diesel engines, and other industrial equipment.
How long does epoxy grout take to cure?
Curing time depends on temperature and product grade. Alphatec epoxy grouts typically reach initial cure within 8–24 hours, and full mechanical strength after 3–7 days. Winter and summer grades are formulated for rapid cure in extreme climates.
Can epoxy grout be used in hot or cold climates?
Yes. Alphatec provides custom-formulated epoxy grout for both hot and cold environments, from arctic sites (–25 °C) to desert installations (>45 °C). Cure time and performance are adjusted to suit on-site conditions.
What’s the difference between epoxy grout and cement grout?
Epoxy grout is resin-based, offering higher compressive strength, chemical resistance, and near-zero shrinkage. Cement grout is more porous and prone to cracking under dynamic loads. For heavy machinery, epoxy is preferred.
How do I repair a cracked machine foundation?
Cracked foundations are typically repaired using epoxy resin injection to fill voids and restore integrity. In severe cases, the machine may be lifted, damaged grout removed, and new epoxy grout applied beneath the baseplate.
How thick can epoxy grout be applied?
Most Alphatec epoxy grouts can be applied in layers up to 100 mm thick without risk of overheating or cracking. For thicker pours ask our engineers for guidance.
What equipment needs epoxy grout?
Epoxy grout is used for equipment that transmits high loads or dynamic forces to the foundation, including reciprocating compressors, pumps, turbines, diesel generators, fans, motors, and gearboxes.
Which Alphatec products are recommended for rotating machinery with high alignment sensitivity?
ALPHATEC® 800 and ALPHATEC® 110 are ideal for rotating machines under dynamic loads. For cracked foundations, use ALPHATEC® 342 resin. For alignment between metal parts, ALPHATEC® 170/171 chock grout is recommended.
Do you offer fast-curing epoxy grout to minimise downtime?
Yes. ALPHATEC® 800 typically cures in 24 h, or 12 h in warm climates. ALPHATEC® 110 cures rapidly, reaching 60 MPa in just 4 h at -22–25 °C which is ideal for emergency work.
Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ) for international shipments?
There is no fixed MOQ. Quantities depend on usage, urgency, and transport method. Smaller urgent orders can ship by air; regular supply may ship via container by sea.
How can we place an order after confirming product and quantity?
Once quantity and product are confirmed, we’ll send a quote. Orders can be placed by returning the signed quote or sending an official Purchase Order with material and payment details.
