ALPHATEC® 400 Epoxy Resin-Based Protective Adhesive

ALPHATEC® 400 is a modified epoxy resin-based adhesive which is used as a stone adhesive, for decorative or protective purposes, and as a smooth, top finish.

ALPHATEC® 400 is essentially transparent when cured, and can be readily pigmented if desired. Its low viscosity and good wetting characteristics enable it to achieve an excellent bond between all particles in the mixture.

ALPHATEC® 400 is also available in the UV-resistant, anti-yellowing version.

Features

Good bond to all types of surfaces
Long pot life (6 to 8 hours at 25ºC)
Easy mixing ratio (5 : 2)
Easy to apply

Packaging and Safety

ALPHATEC® 400 is available in 3.5 litre sets. Smaller or bigger sets can be made on demand or be measured out using PE measuring jugs at the 5:2 volumetric ratio.

All ALPHATEC products are intended for industrial use, and should be used only by experienced personnel with proper equipment & training. Always use proper protective clothing, including gloves, face masks or shields, and wash any exposed skin thoroughly after using the product.

ALPHATEC® 400 contains no solvents, so it has very little flammable hazard.

Mixing and Handling

Pour hardener portion into the resin container, and mix thoroughly using a slow-speed (<500 rpm) mechanical mixer for at least one minute. Lower temperatures will require slower speeds, and more time to properly initiate the reaction process. Pour into a mould, or apply by brush.

The liquid can be mixed with fumed silica to get a sag-free viscosity, but at the expense of clarity, and working time, since fumed silica dramatically shortens the pot-life.
